Summer reading participants enjoy swimming party

A swimming party on June 30 celebrated the accomplishments of about 30 children who took part in Peabody Township Library’s summer reading program, “Dream Big READ!”

Children were involved in the summer program from May 31 to June 28. Students who read for five hours and marked their reading logs were invited to attend the pool party. They were presented with certificates and prizes for their efforts.

Peabody Market, Peabody-Burns Recreation Commission, and friends of the library, made contributions of hot dogs, chips, cookies, and drinks for the students and their families.

Librarian Roger Charles took a hit in the face with a cream pie in exchange for the great results turned in by the students.

Peabody Township Library is looking forward to the 2013 summer reading program. Under consideration is a program for junior and senior high school students and perhaps an adult book club as well.

The library board is looking for sponsors for the 2013 program. For more information about programs or sponsorships contact Charles at the library, (620) 983-2502.
