Students will help with Christmas basket project

When the Peabody Association of Churches distributes annual Christmas baskets this coming holiday season, the group will get a boost from the students of USD 398.

Elementary school students will begin gathering non-food items for the baskets this Saturday when the PBES Parent-Teacher Organization hosts a movie night from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the PBES multi-purpose room.

Admission to the movie will be one non-food item. The movie, “Finding Nemo,” is a G-rated film. Popcorn, soda, and candy will be served to those attending.

Items being collected are shampoo, soap, deodorant, toilet paper, toothpaste, laundry soap, fabric softener, and dish soap. Donations are not limited to these items, but should be non-food products.

Students at the junior high and high school levels will be making contributions with activities of their own. Student council members are in charge of the program at the PBJH/HS.

Collection boxes also will be located in the school offices to accept donations.

For more information, contact the elementary school at (620) 983-2188 or the junior-senior high school at (620) 983-2196.
