Students to compete in ag challenge

Marion County students ages 12 through 19 as of Jan. 1 can compete in an agriculture Challenge of Champions at 7 p.m. July 16 at the Marion High School agriculture education building.

The program is to recognize outstanding Marion County 4-H and FFA members and students interested in agriculture. Students 16 through 19 are eligible for cash prizes with the winner advancing to compete for a scholarship at the state fair.

The challenge involves a written test focusing on agriculture and livestock industries, farm equipment and management, and identifying equipment, livestock breeds, cuts of meat, crops, plants or seed, weeds, and other items.

Students interested in competing can contact their FFA adviser or e-mail meyermar@usd408.com. Awards will be presented at a ceremony at 6:30 p.m. July 25 at the county fair.
