Students compete
in music, business, quiz bowl contests

Three Centre music students received superior ratings Saturday at a regional music festival.

Anna Godinez Vinduska and Allie Stuchlik received superior ratings for flute solos, and Daniel Rziha received a superior rating as a vocalist.

The three will move on to perform April 29 at a state music festival.

Leah Brunner and Jenna Bittle each received an outstanding rating for vocal solos.

A Centre quartet was rated outstanding, and the Centre choir was rated good.

Amy Harms is their instructor.

Future Business Leaders of America

Eight Centre high school students went to Topeka for a Future Business Leaders of America state leadership conference March 30 and 31.

Brooklyn Smith placed third in health care administration. Her score earned her a place in June at a national conference in Atlanta, Georgia.

Olivia Carlson placed eighth in parliamentary procedure. The top four finishers go to nationals.

Quiz bowl

Marion Middle School’s quiz bowl team has competed in five tournaments this semester. Their results are:

Feb. 13 at Hutch-Trinity — Eighth grade took third place, and seventh grade took second place.

Feb. 20 at Moundridge — Eighth grade took third place, and seventh grade took fourth place.

Feb. 28 at Remington — Neither team placed.

March 28 at Sterling — Seventh grade took first place.

April 4 at Heart of America League tournament — Seventh grade took second place.
