Peabody will spend $72,316 this week to repair several streets.
City Administrator Shane Marler said APAC of Kansas began getting equipment into the community Monday.
“They plan to begin work on Tuesday or Wednesday and, weather permitting, be finished by the weekend,” he said. “If the weather forces a delay, they’ll finish during the first few days of next week rather than leave and return later.”
The streets to be for repaired are Chestnut between Fifth and Eighth, Eighth between Peabody and Poplar, Seventh between Maple and Elm, and Fifth between Spruce and Elm.
“All of them are in pretty sad shape,” Marler said. “They definitely need attention.”
The surface of each street will be re-graded and receive a new double chip seal.
