Strait resigns after executive session

After nearly 90 minutes of executive sessions, Marion County Sanitarian and Zoning Administrator Bobbi Strait resigned her position, effective Aug. 26.

Marion County Commission called a special meeting Aug. 26 to discuss Strait’s job performance.

When the commission returned to open session, Strait signed a document and then announced she was resigning.

Strait will be paid through Sept. 20 and will receive health insurance through Sept. 30.

The commission had placed the department head on two weeks administrative leave without pay to give Strait time to “consider her position and responsibilities,” commissioners said. She had returned to her post Aug. 24.

The commission authorized Strait’s administrative assistant, Tonya Richards, to be interim contact for the department until the position is filled. Richards was planning to attend training for groundwater sampling.
