Staff reports on school re-design program to board
Staff members reported on the re-design program at last week’s Peabody-Burns school board meeting.
Two presentations were given, one on the social-emotional portion of redesign, and the other on the benefits of implementing a modified block schedule, students’ responsibility for their learning and providing opportunities not available.
FFA sponsor Alex Walters and members Morgan Gaines, Jack Parks, and Brianna Lett shared their FFA week activity plans and gave an overview of their Fort Worth Stock Show trip.
Susie Kliewer, director of Marion County Parents as Teachers, explained the PAT program. Board members voted to continue to support the efforts and pay the estimated assessment amount for the year.
Superintendent Ron Traxson provided a five-year plan for copier upgrades and a more cost-effective service agreement.
Board members voted to purchase four new copiers for $29,304. Traxson said new copiers will save $2,000 over a five-year span.
Four school board positions will be up for reelection in November. Anyone interested should contact Traxson at the district office.
March’s meeting was moved to March 6 because of spring break.
