St. Luke offers curbside appointments, lab tests to county patients

Staff writer

Patients wanting to make a laboratory or clinic visit to St. Luke Hospital and Clinic, who don’t wish to enter the building because of the COVID-19 pandemic, can now arrange to have staff come to their car.

Marketing director Roger Schroeder said St. Luke is excited to provide alternative services to help keep patients safe during the pandemic. Patients can be seen while remaining in their vehicle, which limits contact with other patients and visitors.

Patients should call (620) 382-2177 either in advance or when they arrive for laboratory tests. The laboratory only needs the test order from the patient’s physician.

“This will better serve patients in need of standard blood work — such as cancer patients, patients on blood thinner therapy, immunosuppressant therapy, etc.,” Schroeder said. “When patients arrive, we can collect the order if one has not been received prior to their arrival. Patients can easily access curbside lab between 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7:30 a.m. to noon Friday.”

Curbside clinic visits are arranged by scheduling an appointment and calling the clinic to let the clinic know the patient has arrived. To schedule a curbside appointment, call at (620) 382-2033.

“A staff member will meet you at your vehicle, and for your safety they will be wearing personal protective equipment,” Schroeder said.

Another option to avoid entering the clinic is to arrange a telehealth appointment, where the patient sees the clinic using their smart phone, tablet, or computer. A staff member will provide the web address to connect to your provider.
