President Carolyn Rowland opened the Jan. 21 meeting of Sorosis Beta Club with a New Year’s wish for all members. She read a New Year’s message, “Make the year a stepping stone.”

Club members recited the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and the Club Collect. Norma Patton gave devotions, “Legends of Valentines” and Corinthians 13.

As roll call was called, 11 members chose a brown bag of clothing. They were reminded to bring a purse next month. No minutes were read, but they will be brought to the next meeting. Treasurer Marquetta Eilerts gave a report. There were no committee reports. Members approved a donation to Legacy Park for use of the meeting room.

Community Improvement Committee had members make valentines for Legacy Park residents.

Norma Patton, Lea Schwart, and Virginia Skinner served cherry cheesecake with coffee and apple cider.

The next meeting will be in the home of Janie Hodges with Kathryn Ragland as co-hosts.
