Sorosis Beta club began the 2010-11 year with a picnic at Peabody City Park on Sept. 16. Marilyn Cox offered grace. Eleven members and seven guests enjoyed fried chicken, a variety of salads, vegetables, baked beans, breads, and desserts along with good conversation.
To open the meeting president Diane Glaser read devotions entitled “No Small Act of Kindness” from “Chicken Soup-Women’s Soul.”
Names were drawn for the door prizes. Sonja Koslowdky won the women’s gift — kitchen towels and homemade jelly. Bob Moffett won the men’s gift of homemade jelly. Arleen and Bob Moffett were presented with a gift for their upcoming 50th wedding anniversary.
The meeting was turned over to vice president Norma Patton who distributed and reviewed the program books. The minutes were read and approved. Two cards of thanks were read. Marquetta Eilerts gave the treasurer’s report.The next meeting will be a trip to the Berean County Fair on Oct. 16. Members are to meet at 9 a.m. at the library to car pool.
