Sorosis Beta meets

Sorosis Beta met Oct. 20 at Jackrabbit Hollow with 14 members present.

President Diane Glaser opened the meeting with the Sorosis pledge and the Pledge of Allegiance. The door prize of a pumpkin candy dish and a scarf was won by Carolyn Rowland. A poem entitled “Keep a Merry Disposition” was read by President Glaser. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved and the treasurer’s report was given.

The Sorosis Community Improvement Committee reported that it had selected a Sunburst Harvey Locust Tree to be planted in the park this spring. The Community Fund Grant will be used to pay for the tree.

Sherri Gerety will become a new member.

Hostess Lou Ann Gray read two poems entitled “Mystery of Autumn” and “Color of Autumn.”

The meeting then was turned over to Pam Lamborn, owner of Jackrabbit Hollow, who introduced the members to a number of different books by several authors that she has available in the store to purchase for personal reading pleasure or for gifts. She also shared other gift ideas for the upcoming holiday season.

Lou Ann then served refreshments of apple cake, coffee, tea, and water with gift bags of Halloween candy.

The next meeting will be Nov. 19 at the Ann Potter Room in the library at 10 a.m. This will be a Pampered Chef party to raise funds for club projects.

The meeting was closed with the club collect.
