Sorosis Beta Club met at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the Anne Potter room of the Peabody Township Library for a soup supper and a time of fellowship with 14 members and 11 spouses present.
Marilyn Cox and Norma Patton were hostesses and served three delicious soups and dessert.
After the meal, Jim Cox presented a program called “Guess what this tool is for?” He shared information about some of the tools he uses to work on restoring old cars. Many older cars had specific tools for specific parts and were used only for that one thing.
After the presentation, each member and guest shared memories of their first cars, which resulted in a great deal of nostalgia and laughter.
The club had a short meeting while the men visited.
New member Sherry Gerrity was presented with a carnation, the club flower, to welcome her. The club also sang happy birthday to her as the next day was her birthday.
It was announced that Peabody Community Foundation is accepting applications for grants for community projects. The members voted to apply for a grant.
The next meeting will be Feb. 16 at the home of Katherine Ragland. The program will be “The Amazing Cricut,” given by Brenda Charles.
