Some in-person events still planned for Saturday
Several events are planned for Old Settlers Day Saturday despite Marion Kiwanis Club withdrawing from sponsoring a parade and events in Central Park.
They include:
- 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. — Kid’s treasure hunt and adult history hunt. Download instructions from the Historic Elgin Hotel website and bring the complete list to the hotel by 4 p.m. to be entered in a drawing for $100 and $50 prizes.
- 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. — Lunch special at CB Baked Goods, 420 E Main St.
- 9 a.m. — Kids games in Central Park.
- 9 a.m. to noon — Open house at Silk Salon, 1240 Commercial Dr.
- 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. — Fall open house at Sew What Quilt Shop, 329 E Main St.
- 9:30 a.m. — Face painting and balloon artist in Central Park.
- 10 a.m. — Four person golf scramble at Marion Country Club.
- 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. — Drawings and giveaways at TC’s What Not Shop Antiques, 901 E. Main St.
- 10 a.m. — Book signing by Lowell Ensey, author of “Schools and Teachers of Marion County,” at Marion Library.
- 10:45 a.m. — Refreshments at Café 256, 330 E. Main St.
- 11 a.m. to noon — Downtown drag on Main St.
- 1 p.m. — Ice cream social at Central Park.
- 1:45 p.m. — Tip Toz Shine dance performance on Central Park stage.
- 2:30 p.m. — Class introductions on Central Park stage
- 3 to 5 p.m. — Live music at Parlour 1886 in the Historic Elgin Hotel.
- 6 p.m. — Parking lot dance at Edwards Café, 1503 Sandstone Rd.
