Smyser gets life
Robert Smyser, 27, of Florence, who was found guilty of aggravated criminal sodomy in August, was sentenced to a life sentence Nov. 2.
He will be eligible for parole in 25 years. He also will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life and will have to wear electronic monitoring if he is released from prison.
The case was prosecuted by Amy Hanley, a special prosecutor with the Kansas attorney general’s office.
Smyser was accused of sodomy of a child under the age of 14 between April 4 and 7, 2008, in Florence.
