Sleepy Creek talent show relocated

With summer temperatures steadily hitting triple digits, Partners of Peabody Parks and Peabody Main Street announced Monday that the talent show and meal scheduled for Sunday evening will take place in the multi-purpose room of the grade school.

“The heat has just been too intense for too long,” Main Street director Shane Marler said. “There is no point in punishing people for supporting the concert series. We’ll move the talent show inside and enjoy being comfortable while we watch the entertainment.”

Marler said that a dozen people had signed up to perform in the talent show and try for the $200 grand prize.

“We are pleased to have that many entries,” he said. “There is a good cross section of the community planning to perform. We think everyone will enjoy it, especially since they will be in an air-conditioned room. As usual, a light meal will be served. The funds raised at Sleepy Creek events will help pay for park improvements.”

The cost of admission and the meal is by donation. Contestants will begin performing at 7 p.m.
