Skinner descendants gather for reunion

Descendants of William and Margaret Skinner and James and Amanda Skinner gathered Aug. 7 for their 76th annual reunion at Peabody Senior Center.

William and James were brothers who migrated from Iowa to Peabody and La Harpe, respectively, in 1896. 

Reunion participants remembered Wilburta Muchmore of Raytown, Missouri, a longtime attendee who recently died.

The reunion also celebrated high school graduations of four members, Sophie, Drew, and Lanie Nelson and Philip Young. 

Among those attending were Donna Nelson and Ken Swisher, Lindsborg; Lori and Cleigh Robbins and children Courtney, Kaylee, Kimber, and Colton, Derby; Cathy Parker, Wichita; Craig, Kara, Lanie, and Tate Nelson, Garden Plain; Drew and Sophie Nelson, Lindsborg; Dylan Knipp, Hays; Judy Ahrens and Virginia Bigbee, Manhattan; Don Skinner, Overland Park; and Jennifer, Philip, Alex, and Mackenzie Young and Virginia Skinner, Peabody.
