Peabody Police Chief Bruce Burke reminds skateboard enthusiasts and their parents that skateboarding is not allowed in the downtown business district.
“Skateboards can be used on the sidewalk in front of the youngster’s home or in front of a residence if the child has received permission from the person living there,” said Burke. “But they are not allowed to skateboard on the handicap ramps, sidewalks, stone walls, loading docks, parking lots, or streets in the business district.”
Burke said skateboarders have been increasing their presence in the downtown area during the past several months.
Anyone with questions about the rules regulating skateboard, bicycle, and scooter activity in the community should contact Burke at the Peabody Police Department, (620) 983-2133.
