Sires listed in AAA report

Harms Plainview Ranch of Lincolnville owns two bulls listed in the spring 2011 Sire Evaluation Report published by the American Angus Association.

According to Kim Harms, the listing indicates each bull has sired at least 35 yearlings and has increasingly accurate Expected Progeny Differences. The report also signifies that at least five calves sired by the bull have been registered since Jan. 1, 2009.

EPDs are listed for growth and maternal traits, as well as average daily gain, docility, and carcass traits.

Harms said the report lists an elite group of bulls.

“It lets people know you are doing your best to produce high-quality bulls,” she said.

The late Clay White of Peabody also had two bulls listed in the report.

Harms Plainview Ranch also has been recognized nationally for having one registered Angus bull included in AAA’s 2011 Pathfinder Report. The bull has sired at least five superior Angus cows based upon recorded performance traits.

Mark and Kim Harms’ teenage daughter, Taylor, is also listed in the Pathfinder Report as owner of a superior registered Angus cow.

Only 2,099 of the nearly 30,000 members are represented in this year’s report. The report lists 9,083 individual cows and 242 Pathfinder sires.
