Sherry Higgins

A memorial service for Sharron “Sherry” Louise Higgins, 69, Hillsboro, who passed away Dec. 12, 2024, will be 10 a.m. Dec. 20 at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, Newton. Private burial will take place later.

Sherry was born Nov. 29, 1955, to Nelda M. (Hayes) Seward and Marien D. Bryan in Rapid City, South Dakota.

She married Kerry Higgins on Aug. 8, 1987, combining their children of prior marriages, Teri Shelton and Amanda Flores, and forging a loving home on a farm outside of Hillsboro.

Sherry retired after 17 years as a welder at Hesston Corp. She spent her later years self-employed and as a property manager, owning a recreational vehicle park in Canton and other properties in surrounding areas.

She is survived by devoted husband Kerry Higgins; brother Al Bryan; daughter Teri Shelton; stepdaughter Amanda Flores; grandchildren, Alex Rivera, Nic Rivera, Josslynn Flores, Bradley Hunter, Ryan Hunter, Faith Shelton, and Hope Shelton; and five great-grandchildren.
