These offense reports were released last week by the Marion County Sheriff’s Department:
Baseball bat used in assault
Jason Dunsford Wheeler, 1737 170th Road, Marion, was injured at 12:18 a.m. June 16 at 101 W. Fourth St., Florence, when he and another person argued. The second person used a baseball bat to assault Wheeler who was transported to a hospital.
Thefts at Marion Reservoir
Four thefts were reported during the night Aug. 7 at campsites at Marion Reservoir. Michael N. Hoppes of Galva reported the theft of an ice chest with beer, valued at $100; Brian Kindall of Minneapolis, a plastic gas can and an inner-tube, $90; Conan Schickel of Wichita, a Reno fishing reel, $40; and Matthew Vogt of Hays, red and white Rubbermaid cooler, a blue Coleman lantern, a Coleman fuel can, and a lighter, $31.
Vandalism of county equipment
Marion County Road and Bridge Department reported damage to a Caterpillar high loader after 5 p.m. Aug. 10, in the 2100 block of Kanza Road, Hillsboro. Rocks and gravel were dropped into the fuel tank, a Motorola two-way radio and an am/fm radio were taken from the cab, and the cab’s headliner was ripped out. The total loss was valued at $5,000.
