Sew What Quilt Shop to make quilts for veterans

Sew What Quilt Shop will have a Quilt of Valor Day 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 3. A lunch will be provided. The goal of the day is to finish as many quilt tops as possible.

The Wichita chapter of Quilts of Valor was contracted by a chaplain from Fort Riley asking for 400 quilts for soldiers of the 4-4 Cavalry coming back from Afghanistan in March. The unit has had at least one casualty a week since being deployed.

Quilters have two options for quilts. They can bring their own fabric or pattern or purchase a kit from Sew What with the proceeds going to Quilts of Valor.

Quilters will need the additional supplies of a sewing machine and other cutting and sewing supplies.
