March is Music in our Schools Month, sponsored by the National Association for Music Education.
Several musical events have been scheduled at Peabody-Burns schools to help celebrate the occasion.
On Thursday, Peabody-Burns Junior High School solos and ensembles will present a short recital of music performed at the WSL Music Festival on Tuesday. The concert will be 7 p.m. at the Peabody Township Library.
Peabody-Burns High School Voices will present their annual Dinner Theatre 6 p.m. Saturday at the Brown Building Concert Hall. “Disney Dazzle” is the theme this year. Voices students have been busy learning music and choreography for this presentation.
On March 15, a Music In Our Schools Month concert will be presented in the Brown Building Concert Hall. This concert will feature the PBJH Concert Band performing several selections, including the pieces performed at the Wheat State League Music Festival. The PBHS concert band will also perform as part of the concert. Several selections will feature soloists with the band. Student soloists featured will be Bethanny Loucks, Seth Topham, and McKenzie Ensminger. Guest soloists performing with the band will be Greg Berman, one of the Band Directors in Newton, and Catherine Berman, Flute Instructor at Emporia State University.
The USD 398 Faculty-Staff Recital will be held 7 p.m. March 29 at Peabody United Methodist Church. This program will feature the musical talents of some of those who work with the students of USD 398.
Finishing the month is the KSHSAA Regional solo and small ensemble festival, held at Tabor College on March 31.
