Schools preparing for little kids

Area schools are preparing for a new crop of kindergarten and preschool students.

Marion-Florence students must be 5 years old by Aug. 31 to enroll.

Kindergarten roundup will be March 21 at Marion Elementary School. Parents who want to enroll kindergartners in the fall may contact Deb Shipman at (620) 382-3771 to set up an appointment.

Parents who want to enroll their children in Marion’s Head Start program need to make an application. Children must be ages 3 or 4 years old to enroll.

Enrollment is ongoing. To apply, parents can contact the elementary school at (620) 382-3771.

Centre schools kindergarten and 4-year-old preschool screening will be April 8. For an appointment, parents may phone the district office at (785) 983-4304.

Hillsboro Elementary School’s kindergarten roundup will be in August.

Parents should call the elementary school office at (620) 947-3184 to make a screening appointment.

Goessel Elementary School will screen children who will be age 5 by Aug. 31 for kindergarten enrollment unless the children are already enrolled in preschool. Those already attending preschool won’t need to be screened.

Parents may make an appointment by calling the elementary school office at (620) 367-8118.
