A USD 398 Suburban carrying preschool students to Burns Tuesday morning radioed back to the central office for help when the vehicle came to a stop on an icy incline on 30th Rd. about ¼ mile from U.S. 77.
“The Suburban didn’t slide off the road or anything,” Superintendent Ron Traxson said. “It just lost traction on the slick pavement going up a hill and came to a stop.”
School officials jumped in another vehicle and drove to the rescue.
“We went out with another Suburban and put the students in it and they went on their way. We took some ice melt with us and tossed it around in front of the stopped vehicle. I got behind the wheel and gave it a little gas and it took right off.
“Everyone got home safely,” he said. “It wasn’t a big deal.”
