School board hopefuls announce candidacies

Candidates for Peabody-Burns school board publicly announced their intent during last week’s meeting, with all four candidates running unopposed.

Donna Glover and Tim Caldwell are running for new terms, while candidates Stacy Parks and Hope Reynolds are running to replace two current board members not seeking reelection.

The school’s recent boiler replacements cost $130,000, but will increase efficiency and effectiveness, superintendent Ron Traxson said.

Updating the system will reduce the number of boilers from seven to four.

The system is being replaced for the first time since 1997 due to an inability to find parts.

According to district statistics, enrollment was a few students below 240, which remained the benchmark over the past several years.
