Rubena Bartel

Rubena Esther Bartel, 95, of Hillsboro died Dec. 21 at Salem Home. She was born Feb. 1, 1918, to Peter D. and Elizabeth (Penner) Leppke in Collinsville, Okla.

She married Ted Klaassen on June 10, 1943. She later married Elgin Bartel on July 21, 1979.

She is survived by her husband, Elgin Bartel of Hillsboro; four sons, Ron Klaassen of Newark, N.J., Kevin Klaassen of Big Spring, Texas, Rollind Bartel of rural Hillsboro, and Keith Bartel of Wichita; three daughters, Loretta Paxton of Wichita, Diane Ewert of Wichita, Kay Bartel of Wichita; 12 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ted Klaassen; and a son, Milford Klaassen.

A celebration of life service was Friday at Parkview Mennonite Brethren Church in Hillsboro. Visitation was Thursday at Jost Funeral Home in Hillsboro.

A memorial fund has been established with World Impact.
