Robert Vestring

Robert Vestring, 90, of Burns, died Sept. 15, 2010, at his home in Burns.

A funeral Mass was 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John’s Catholic Church, El Dorado.

The Recitation of the Rosary was 7 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Robert was born May 30, 1920, in rural Burns, the son of Louis F. and Mary Louise (Kretchmar) Vestring. He attended school in Burns and graduated with the class of 1938 from Burns High School. He also attended Butler County College.

He had lived all his life in Butler and Marion counties.

He was united in marriage Nov. 6, 1954, to Nadine Coppinger at St. John’s Catholic Church, El Dorado.

He was a rancher and operated the Vestring Ranch. He was an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church, a fourth degree knight in the Knights of Columbus, and a member of the National Beef Association, Kansas Livestock Association, and the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association.

Surviving family include his wife, Nadine of the home; sons Robert and wife Anna Vestring, Louis “Tex” Vestring, and Stephen Vestring; daughter Anne and husband Rick Young of Andover; grandchildren Ashley, Matt, and Jessie Vestring, Loren and Ashley Roedel, and Elizabeth Young; and two great-grandchildren, Madison and Chanel.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Jack Vestring.
