Richard T. Johnson

MARION — Richard T. Johnson, 84, passed away Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at Salem Home of Hillsboro.

He was born Jan. 1, 1928, at Vermillion, Kan., in Marshall County. His parents, Joseph and Florence Schuyler Johnson, preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by seven brothers and two sisters.

Richard graduated from Vermillion High School in 1945. Following graduation, he proudly served his country with the United States Army during the Korean War. After his stint in the service, he was employed by the Kansas Turnpike Authority, Kansas Department of Revenue as a driver license examiner, and later as a supervisor for the Kansas Drivers License Bureau in the Wichita area.

On Nov. 23, 1969, he was united in marriage to Lois Schlotthauer; their union was blessed with one daughter.

Richard enjoyed model trains and liked to fish at the Marion County Lake and at farm ponds.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 43 years, Lois; and daughter Jane Johnson of Wichita.

Visitation with the family was Monday evening at Zeiner Funeral Home of Marion.

The funeral service was held on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Marion. Interment was in the Marion Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established for Our Savior Lutheran Church in care of the funeral home.
