Due to resignations of Dianne Burnett and Sandra Svoboda within the county treasurer’s office, certain positions needed adjusting to accommodate a smaller staff.
County commissioners met in closed session with Treasurer Jeannine Bateman for 25 minutes Monday, discussing how to divvy different responsibilities within the department.
First, Susan Berg received a promotion from assistant driver license examiner and vehicle clerk to become motor vehicle supervisor, at a salary of $2,300 per month. Commissioners will review the salary again in six months or less to determine whether any further adjustment is warranted.
In addition, deputy treasurer Kathy Swan received a monthly pay increase from $2,973 to $3,077. Bateman said Swan now has added duties to her position, covering for those vacated by resignation.
Economic developer Teresa Huffman said there is a good amount of movement within the county for new business owners and already-established businesses looking to expand.
Commissioners afterwards passed a resolution for Bill Vinduska and Candy Gfeller to obtain a license to produce and sell honey wine, also known as mead, throughout the county.
In other business:
- Commissioners passed a resolution to adopt the county’s hazard mitigation plan, with which entities in the county can apply for grants to improve specified facilities.
- Emergency manager Randy Frank informed commissioners that additional sites were requested for a wind farm between Peabody and Florence. Proper training pertaining to possible rescues and fires at turbine sites were also discussed.
- Commissioners met with transfer station director Rollin Schmidt, and approved the solid waste plan within the county for another year.
