Residency rules change
Staff writer
Starting in 2024, a parent who lives outside the school district and wants his or her child to attend Marion schools will have to submit an application by June 30, school board members decided Monday.
Students with a sibling already enrolled, military students, children in custody of Department for Children and Families, and children of district employees will receive priority.
If requests exceed the number of available seats, administrators will select nonresident students by lottery.
The district is not required to provide transportation for nonresident students.
Preschool fees rise
Preschool tuition in Hillsboro schools will increase to $195 for half-day students and $465 for full-day students, school board members decided Monday.
The fees represent a $10 increase for half-day and a $20 increase for full-day.
In other matters Monday, bus drivers will receive hourly pay of $17.65 plus 15 cents for each year of experience. Classified staff will receive raises of 90 cents to $3.40 an hour, depending on experience.
