Renee Makovec

LINCOLNVILLE, Kan. — Renee Makovec, age 56, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at Wichita, Kan.

Renee Makovec was born Sept. 30, 1957, at West Point, Neb., the daughter of Don and Jeanne (Ritzdorf) Kreikemeier. She grew up and was educated at West Point. She was a 1975 graduate of West Point Central Catholic High School and attended Wayne State College.

On Oct. 15, 1994, she was married to Ron Makovec at Pilsen, Kan. Two children were born to this union, Amy and Adam. Renee was a substitute rural mail carrier and worked as a sales clerk at D&J in Marion.

She was a member of Holy Family Parish, St. John Nepomucene Church at Pilsen and a member of the church altar society.

She is survived by her husband, Ron, son, Adam, and daughter, Amy, all of the home; her parents, Don and Jeanne Kreikemeier of Fremont, Neb.; four brothers, Russel J. and Roger J. and wife, Jenny, of Omaha, Neb., Rodney J. “Butch” of Fremont, and Rollie J. and wife, Micky, of West Point; two sisters, Roxanne and husband, Tim Burger, of Fremont; her mother-in-law, Jane Makovec of Marion; and many nieces and nephews.

The rosary was Tuesday at the church in Pilsen, and the funeral mass was to be at 10:30 a.m. today at the church. Interment was to follow at the Pilsen Cemetery. A memorial has been established with the Fr. Kapaun Fund in care of Zeiner Funeral Home, 205 Elm St., Marion, KS 66861.

Visitation was Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice.
