A calendar of trips and activities available to school district patrons from January to March has been mailed to all households in the Peabody and Burns communities.
Peabody-Burns Recreation Commission sponsors the activities, which include trips to hockey and basketball games, classes in batik dyeing, and computer skills and crafts.
The second-semester classes will begin with basketball and weight room sessions from 2 to 4 p.m. Sundays from Jan. 2 to March 6. There is no charge for the sessions.
The first trip for patrons will be a trip to Intrust Bank Arena in Wichita for a hockey game between the Wichita Thunder and Bloomington Prairie Thunder. The cost is $20 per person, and the rec commission will provide bus transportation from PBHS that will leave at 5:15 p.m. and return about 10:30 p.m.
Children younger than 13 must be accompanied by an adult and everyone planning to attend needs to register one week in advance by calling rec director Russ Busenitz at (620) 344-8380, or e-mail a name and phone number to peabodyburnsrec@juno.com.
A class in basic Microsoft Word, Power-Point, Excel, and Outlook also requires advance registration. Two sessions will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Jan. 11 and 18 in the computer room at Peabody-Burns Elementary School. Annette Weems is the instructor and there is no charge.
Registration should be made with Russ Busenitz at the above telephone number or e-mail address.
