Alexander Clyde Beck, 19, 7620 S. Anderson Road, Newton was formally charged Oct. 5 with one count of rape.
The victim in the case is 14 years old.
Marion County Attorney Susan Robson filed a motion for continuance that moved the preliminary hearing from Oct. 5 to 10 a.m. Nov. 16.
In the motion document stated the reasons for the continuance are that the attorney general’s office, who is prosecuting the case had a conflict on Oct. 5 and that the Peabody Police department had not filed a report.
Beck posted a surety bond Oct. 5 worth $25,000. The condition of the bond is that Beck cannot have contact with the victim or the victim’s family and he must meet with court services.
