Ralph Ruby, 77, of Leavenworth died unexpectedly Nov. 10, 2011, at his residence.
He was born May 29, 1934, to Walter and Minnie (Remers) Ruby of Marion. He attended and graduated from Marion High School and entered the U.S. Army.
He married Norma Vestal on Jan. 31, 1961. She preceded him in death on Feb. 14, 1998.
He worked 35 years for Kaaz Construction. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Eagles, and Local Union No. 1290.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Fred Ruby; and one sister, Annabelle Gaffney.
He is survived by one son, Timothy Ruby of Leavenworth; two daughters, Teresa Stewart and Amy Williams, both of Leavenworth; one brother, Arthur Ruby of Billings, Mont.; three sisters, Catherine Hein of Marion, Margaret Hein of Hillsboro, and Lucille Weyer of Kansas City, Mo.; and six grandchildren.
His funeral was Nov. 16 at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church, Lansing, with Fr. William McEvoy officiating. Burial was in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
