Prairie Rose Rangers to perform in Florence

Florence Labor Day will feature performances Sept. 6 by Prairie Rose Rangers, featuring Orin Friesen, and Hearts 4 Him.

Additional entertainment that Sunday feature Ron Tibbetts, known as the “Bubble Man.” A science educator at the Wichita Omnisphere and Science Center, he is part scientist, part comedian. His act features a giant bubble machine that can yield a 10-foot-high bubble.

This will be the second year for Florence’s “King of the Hill” soap box derby. The event will start earlier this year to allow time for all heats. The maximum number of entries has increased to 50. An open class for those who built their own also will be featured.

A $5 button, required for admission to most events, can be purchased in Florence at Town & Country Café, Chuckwagon Café, the city clerk’s office, Shear Success, and Johnson’s General Store; in Marion at Carlsons’ Grocery, Marion Dry Cleaning, and Marion County Record; and in Peabody at Peabody Market.
