Jan. 16 — Harassment complaints in the 100 block of N. Washington St. and the 200 block of S. Jefferson St. were investigated. A parking complaint at Adams and C Sts. and a report of suspicious activity in the 300 block of Arbor Ct. were investigated.

Jan. 17 — A vehicle reported stolen in the 400 block of S. Main St. was later discovered abandoned near B and Birch Sts.; after an officer noted the vehicle was missing again, the vehicle was reported stolen a second time and again abandoned near B and Birch Sts. Reports of a vehicle driving on the grass at Memorial Park and suspicious activity in the 300 block of W. 3rd St. were investigated.

Jan. 18 — Reports of suspicious activity in the 400 block of W. D St. and the 200 block of S. Jefferson St., a harassment complaint in the 200 block of S. Jefferson St. and a dog running free in the 100 block of S. Ash St. were investigated.

Thursday — A vehicle that had previously been reported as stolen and abandoned near B and Birch Sts. twice Jan. 19 was taken again; the driver was arrested on suspicion of felony theft after police used a tracking device that had been placed on the vehicle to locate it and the driver.

Friday — Reports of a fraudulent use of a credit card in Hillsboro Heights, a reckless driver on Indigo Rd., out-of-control juvenile in the 400 block of Main St., suspicious vehicle in the 300 block of S. Lincoln St., and harassment complaint in the 200 block of S. Jefferson St. were investigated. Sheriff’s deputies were assisted with the arrest of an individual who allegedly violated a protection from stalking order.

Saturday — A report of a skunk on Main St. was investigated.

Jan. 16 — A report of a gas skip in the 100 block of E. Main St. was investigated but no report was taken. A suspicious vehicle on private property and a report of a disturbance in the 400 block of N. 2nd St. were investigated. A speeding citation was issued.

Jan. 18 — Two warnings for windows obstructed by frost were issued. A report of criminal damage to property was investigated.

Thursday — A report of an out-of-control juvenile in the 600 block of Lawrence St. was investigated.

Friday — A dog running free was taken to Animal Health Center. Two speeding citations were issued.

Saturday — The welfare of a driver of a vehicle parked on the side of the road was checked. Officers assisted in the installation of a car seat.

Sunday — Four speeding citations, no proof of liability insurance and failure to stop at stop sign citations were issued.

Jan. 16 — A possible health and safety violation of city code at 703 Chestnut St. was investigated.

Jan. 17 — A vehicle with expired tags that is reportedly not in running condition was investigated after police discovered it had been moved from one place to another within city limits.

A new drug investigation was opened. No further information was available.

A complaint about a water meter that was covered was investigated; police spoke to the homeowner.

Thursday — An ex parte emergency placement order was filled; a person was transported to Osawatomie State Hospital.

Saturday — Teresa M. McGonigal of Peabody was arrested on a Newton municipal warrant.

Sunday — An out-of-control foster child was investigated.
