Police investigation still pending
Long term sub and new track coach approved
Staff writer
After a 45-minute executive session on Wednesday, Peabody-Burns board of education voted to approve Doris Unruh as a long-term social studies substitute teacher and Brian Simmonds as head middle and high school track coach.
Superintendent Ron Traxson says the police investigation involving a Peabody-Burns high school teacher is still underway and he remains on paid administrative leave until further notice.
The board also regrettably accepted teacher and head girls basketball coach, Scott Bauer’s, resignation, placed a two-year extension on high school principal Scott Kimble’s contract, and extended school counselor Ken Parry’s contract to 2020.
After another executive session, board members approved for an out-of-district student from Marion to enroll.
They also approved the purchase of a 14-passenger handicap-accessible bus for $56,000, and heard information from Traxson and Kimble on a new vocational auto program through Butler Academy. No action was taken.
