ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded.

HILLSBORO

July 14 — A report of an unwanted person being at a residence in the 900 block of E. Birch St. proved unfounded. Police also investigated a parking complaint in the 200 block of N. Adams St.

July 15 — Items thought to have been stolen from the 100 block of N. Main St. later turned up. A resident turned in a lost debit card, which was returned to its owner. Police investigated a dog complaint at Lincoln and C Sts. and an argument between a mother and daughter in the 400 block of S. Main St.

July 16 — Police searched for a possibly stolen vehicle seen in the area. A resident reported an attempted scam.

July 17 — A traffic complaint in the 400 block of S. Washington St. was investigated.

Thursday — A large snake was reported in a garage in the 200 block of S. Date St. A resident reported being harassed at his residence by a coworker. Another mother-daughter argument in the 400 block of S. Main St. was reported.

Suspicious activity in the 300 block of W. 3rd St. and in the 100 block of S. Ash St. was investigated. A suspicious call turned out not to have been related to a domestic disturbance.

Friday — A parking complaint on D St. and an abandoned vehicle in Hillsboro Heights were investigated.

Saturday — Suspicious activity at B and Birch Sts. and a disconnected 911 call were investigated.

MARION

July 15 — Two residents of the 200 block of S. Cedar St. were warned about blowing grass clippings into the roadway. A check the next day revealed that the clippings had been cleaned up.

A dog running free in the 400 block of W. Santa Fe St. eluded capture but later was found by its owner.

A commercial alarm in the 300 block of E. Main St. proved false.

July 16 — Police began investigating a report of counterfeit money being passed at Dollar General. The investigation continues.

A commercial alarm in the 1200 block of E. Main St. proved false.

Separate motorists were cited for going 29 mph in a 20-mph zone and for having no license and proof of insurance, both at Main and 2nd Sts.

Other motorists were warned for having a defective tail light in the 800 block of S. Roosevelt St., going the wrong way on a one-way street at 2nd and Main Sts., and failing to stop at Main and 4th Sts.

July 17 — A hit-and-run accident in the 1100 block of E. Main St. remains under investigation.

People involved in a disturbance in the 1000 block of Batt St. were separated.

Thursday — No arrests were made after another disturbance was reported in the 1000 block of Batt St.

Two motorists were warned for having no license plate lights on US-56. Other motorists also were warned for having no driver’s side mirror at Main and Roosevelt Sts. and for speeding at Main and Elm Sts.

A parking complaint in the 500 block of N. Freeborn St. was investigated.

Friday — No arrests were made after a report of harassment in the 200 block of N. 3rd St.

The driver of a disabled vehicle in the 600 block of E. Main St. was taken to a residence to get a gas can.

Separate motorists were warned for speeding in the 500 block of E. Main St, and near 180th and Sunflower Rds.

Saturday — A hit-and-run accident was reported in the 400 block of N. Roosevelt St.

A theft was reported in the 1000 block of Industrial Rd. but the victim did not wish to have the case prosecuted.

Separate motorists were ticketed for going 32 mph in the 500 block of W. Main St. and for going 30 mph and 31 mph at Main and Elm St. The speed limit in both areas is 20 mph. Another motorist was warned for speeding in the 600 block of E. Main St.

No problems were found when officers checked on the welfare of a resident of the 300 block of Locust St.

Sunday — The body of 73-year-old Roger Frans was found during a welfare check in the 100 block of E. Santa Fe St. No evidence of foul play was reported.

No problems were found when an officer checked on the welfare of another resident in the 900 block of Highland St.
