ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies generally are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

July 20 — A wreck in the 600 block of E. A St. and an animal-control issue in the 800 block of W. Grand Ave. were investigated. A disconnected 911 call from the 100 block of S. Jefferson St. was attributed to kids playing with a phone.

July 21 — Police helped with a parking issue at the city’s sports complex and helped the sheriff’s office with a traffic stop at 160th and Indigo Rds.

July 22 — A wreck at Ash and 3rd Sts. was investigated.

Thursday — A disconnected 911 call from the 100 block of N. Birch St. was attributed to someone dropping a cell phone. City streetlights were checked.

Friday — Wrecks in Memorial Park and at Ash St. and Willow Glen Ln. were investigated. A report of suspicious activity in the 800 block of Orchard Grove was investigated.

Saturday — A door-to-door salesman was told he needed a peddler permit. A driver was ticketed from running a stop sign at Birch and D St. A cell phone was found and returned to its owner. A safety concern at the city’s splash pad was investigated. Police stood by during a civil matter in the 200 block of W. Grand Ave.

Sunday — No problems were found in checking on a disconnected 911 call from Parkside Homes.

MARION

July 20 — A resident turned in a lost phone. A driver was warned for an equipment violation at US-56 and Cedar St.

July 21 — An odor at Dollar General proved not to be dangerous. Police checked on a resident of the 400 block of N. 2nd St. and helped the sheriff’s office with an unspecified traffic stop. A driver was warned for speeding at 3rd and Library Sts.

July 22 — Police, sheriff, and highway patrol officers were involved in a high-speed chase that ended with the pursued vehicle crashing into the US-56/77/K-150 roundabout. An unspecified complaint was received from TC’s What-Not Shop. Marion’s drug-sniffing police dog was deployed at an unspecified traffic stop by the sheriff’s office. Another vehicle was stopped by police for unspecified reasons at US-56 and Cedar St. A dog was reported loose near the city shop.

Thursday — Police determined that no crime had been committed in responding to an unspecified complaint to the 600 block of S. Roosevelt St. A driver was warned for speeding and an equipment violation at US-56 and Cedar St.

Friday — No problems were found in checking on a report of an open door in the 700 block of N. Cedar St. Two drivers were warned for speeding or equipment violations at Main and 3rd Sts. and at US-56 and Cedar St.

Saturday — Police helped the driver of a disabled vehicle near Main and Thorp Sts. and stood by during a highway patrol pursuit.

Sunday — Dollar General employees complained about trespassing. A driver was warned for speeding at US-56 and Cedar St. Police helped the driver of a disabled vehicle near Weldon and Freeborn Sts.
