ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

Feb. 3 — Police gave a resident a ride home from Hillsboro Community Hospital.

Feb. 4 — A high-speed chase nearby never entered Hillsboro.

Feb. 5 — Police stood by during a civil matter at Barkman Honey and talked at Hillsboro High School about illicit substances.

Thursday — A person reportedly walking from HCH to Great Bend was not found. Police delivered another high school lecture about illicit substances. Streetlights were checked.

Friday — A resident eventually recovered property initially reported as lost.

Saturday — A minor accident involving the mayor was investigated in the 300 block of E. C St..

Sunday — Routine activities.

MARION

Feb. 3 — Police determined that no crime had been committed after checking on a delayed report of a disturbance in the 200 block of Forest St. A resident’s report of a threat was referred to Morris County.

Feb. 4 — Police were called to the sheriff’s office to talk to a person who thought he was being followed. They also were called to a civil dispute in the 100 block of N. Roosevelt St. and made an emergency notification for Newton police in the 100 block of Ashley Dr.

Feb. 5 — Police followed up on an unspecified matter in the 100 block of N. Thorp St.

Thursday — Investigating a driving complaint in the 300 block of Locust St., police located a suspected vehicle reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed in the 700 block of E. Main St. After a brief chase, the vehicle was stopped two blocks away near Lawrence and Elm Sts.

A 26-year-old Marion man, identified in jail booking records as Paul A. Huddleston, was arrested on suspicion of fleeing or attempting to elude police, driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and driving without a valid license. Jail records indicate a recommended charge of failing to yield to an emergency vehicle instead of fleeing.

Huddleston was released 14 hours later after posting a $2,500 bond.

Reports about a possible threat on Main St. and about another disturbance in the 300 block of Locust St. are being referred to the county attorney for possible prosecution.

A report of a theft in the 300 block of S. Cedar St. also remains under investigation.

No offense reports were released in any of those cases.

In addition, a dog loose near Main and Billings Sts. was taken to a veterinary clinic, and police helped ambulance attendants access a locked room at Country Inn Motel, where a 26-year-old woman reportedly was suffering a seizure.

Friday — Investigating a report that someone almost was struck by a vehicle in the 100 block of W. Santa Fe St., police located a suspected vehicle in the 200 block of N. Lincoln St.

A 22-year-old man, identified by police as being from Marion, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault, aggravated child endangerment, disorderly conduct, and having no proof of insurance.

Jail records indicate that 22-year-old Johnathan C. Prebble, 22, whose address is listed by jailers as being in Lincolnville, was arrested on suspicion of those charges plus criminal use of a weapon. He was released Monday after posting a $10,000 bond.

A truck impounded during the arrest was released Sunday to a resident of the 300 block of Locust St. No offense reports in connection with the incident have been released.

Police also spoke to someone in the 1400 block of Denver St. about an unspecified disturbance the night before.

Saturday — A suspicious package reported in the 100 block of S. Coble St. was not found. No problems were found in responding to an alarm in the 300 block of E. Main St. Police reportedly helped Peabody officers make a traffic stop in the 100 block of N. Walnut St.; however, it was unclear whether it was Walnut St. in Marion or Walnut St. in Peabody.

Sunday — Police were unable to catch a dog loose in the 200 block of W. Santa Fe St. but did notify a resident of the 800 block of N. Cedar St. about an animal that was struck in the roadway. Possibly suspicious activity in the 300 block of N. Lincoln St. was investigated. Police spoke to a person in Central Park regarding an unspecified ongoing investigation.
