ACTIVITY REPORTS
Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.
HILLSBORO
Nov. 25 — A minor accident at Wendy’s was investigated. Tools found at Eisenhower and C Sts. were claimed by their owner. A driver was ticketed for driving 46 mph in a 30-mph zone in the 900 block of E. D St. Other drivers were warned for speeding in the 800 block of S. Ash St. and at Prairie Point and D Sts., for driving the wrong way at Hillsboro Elementary School, for running stop signs at Birch and D Sts. and in the 900 block of S. Ash St., and for failing to signal a turn in the 100 block of W. D St.
Nov. 26 — What began as a child custody complaint ended up in a domestic battery arrest. A possible scam was reported.
Nov. 27 — A resident’s report of being harassed by someone from Winfield was referred to Winfield police, who already were aware of the situation. Police met with a resident about an eviction notice and stood by during a civil matter in the 100 block of S. Cedar St.
Thursday — Police talked to a resident about a civil matter.
Friday — A package was reported taken from a front porch in the 200 block of W. 3rd St. Police handled a car-deer accident at K-15 and 190th Rd. because the sheriff’s department was busy. A driver was warned for not having taillights at Ash St. and Orchard Dr.
Saturday — Police did not find a person who reportedly was yelling in the 200 block of S. Cedar St. A driver was warned for having a defective headlight at 180th and Indigo Rds.
Sunday — Mitchell Leppke, 22, Visalia, California, on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol and transporting an open container of alcohol; a full report of the arrest has not yet been completed. A resident lodged a driving complaint in the 100 block of S. Date St. Drivers were warned for being at the sports complex after hours, for failing to signal turns in the 400 block of S. Adams St. and at Jefferson and D Sts., for having no license plate light at Jefferson and D Sts., for having red lights on the front of a vehicle at Ash St. and Orchard Dr., for not having required clearance lights at Cedar and D Sts., and for running a stop sign in the 800 block of E. D St. Police again stood by during a civil matter in the 100 block of S. Cedar St.
MARION
Nov. 24 — Police responded to a civil dispute Officers in the 400 block of S. Freeborn St. and stood by during a civil matter in the 300 block of S. 3rd St. A driver was ticketed for having expired registration in the 800 block of Denver St. Other drivers were warned for speeding near US-56 and Timber Rd. and US-56 and Cedar St.
Nov. 25 — No problems were found in checking on a disturbance in the 500 block of S. Cedar St. and a report of suspicious activity in the 1000 block of Industrial St. Drivers were warned for defective equipment near Main and 1st Sts., Main and Locust Sts., and Main and Lincoln Sts. and for an unspecified moving violation near Freeborn and Sherman Sts.
Nov. 26 — A dog reportedly barking in the 300 block of Miller St. was not found. Police spoke to a resident about a civil matter and were unable to locate a resident they attempted to check on in the 300 block of N. 1st St. A driver was ticketed for running a stop sign near Main and Coble Sts. Other drivers were warned about having defective equipment near Main and Arbor Sts. and near Main and 2nd Sts. and for speeding near Main and Elm Sts.
Nov. 27 — Police talked to residents about an abandoned vehicle in the 100 block of E Main St. and about a civil matter in the 300 block of W. Santa Fe St. Four drivers were warned for speeding — two near US-56 and Cedar St. and two more near US-56 and Industrial St.
Thursday — Multiple warnings were issued along US-56. One was warned for failing to yield near Industrial St. Three were warned for speeding near Timber Rd., and two more were warned for speeding near Industrial St. and Cedar St. One of the latter also was ticketed for having expired registration.
Friday — A dog loose in the 1000 block of Maple St. was taken to a veterinary clinic. Two drivers were warned for having defective equipment at Main and Lincoln Sts., where another was warned for speeding. Two more were warned about defective equipment at US-56 and Timber Rd., where one also was warned for speeding. One more was warned about defective equipment at Main and Thorp Sts. Others were warned for speeding near Main and Billings St., near Main and 4th St., and near Main and Cedar Sts.
Saturday — A hit-and-run wreck in the 300 block of E. Main St. was investigated; an accident report had not yet been released as of deadline. A total of six drivers were warned for having defective equipment near US-56 and Cedar St. Other drivers received similar warnings near Main and Arbor Sts., near Main and Lincoln Sts., near Main and 2nd Sts., and in the 1200 block of E. Main St. Drivers also were warned for speeding in the 500 block of S. Freeborn St., near Main and 2nd Sts., and near Main and 1st Sts. and for failing to signal a turn in the 1200 block of E. Main St.
Sunday — A dog loose in the 300 block of S. Coble St. was returned to its owner. Drivers were warned for an unspecific moving violation near Main and 4th St. and for having defective equipment near Roosevelt and Kellison Sts.
