ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

Dec. 11 — A driving complaint near the high school was investigated.

Dec. 12 — Police helped school officials conduct a routine search of the high school with a drug-sniffing dog. A dog running loose near the high school was returned to its owner. The welfare of a Salem Homes resident was checked. A vehicle hit a gas meter. A resident had questions about an order of protection. Police provided directions to a driver.

Dec. 13 — Shots fired on the east side of town turned out to be from hunters outside the city limits. Drivers were warned at D and Adams Sts. for having no trailer lights and in the 600 block of N. Ash St. for not displaying a license plate.

Thursday — A sick skunk near the city shop was killed and its remains disposed of. A driver was warned for violating license restrictions in the 100 block of S. Jefferson St. Property recovered from a vehicle burglary was returned to its owner. Police gave three gallons of fuel to a driver who ran out near US-56 and Holly Rd.

Friday — An accident in the 100 block of E. A St. was investigated. A resident planning to go on vacation requested that police watch the resident’s house. No problems were found in investigating a report of suspicious activity in the 100 block of N. Jefferson St.

Saturday — A driver was warned about speeding in the 600 block of N. Ash St. No problems were found in investigating an errant text to 911 from the 100 block of N. Birch St.

MARION

Dec. 11 — A dog running free in the 800 block of E. Main St. was not caught.

Dec. 12 — Suspicious activity reported at Ampride was not found.

Dec. 13 — Drivers were warned for speeding at US-56 and Cedar St. and US-56 and Industrial St. No problems were found in checking on the welfare of a resident of the 100 block of N. Freeborn St. and in checking on a report of suspicious activity in the 200 block of N. Roosevelt St.

Thursday — Drivers were warned for speeding near US-56 and Industrial St., US-56 and Cedar St., and Main and Elm Sts. A driver was warned about defective equipment near US-56 and Industrial St.

Friday — Charges may be sought after a fight among juveniles in the 1100 block of E. Main St. Issuance of a worthless check also was reported in that block. A gate found open in the 100 block of N. 2nd St. was secured and the property owner was contacted.

Saturday — A driver was warned for speeding near Walnut and Main Sts.
