ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

Nov. 20 — Two non-injury accidents were investigated. What was reported as a suspicious person at Emprise Bank turned out to be a new resident.

Nov. 21 — Tools were stolen in two burglaries from unlocked pickup trucks.

Nov. 22 — A report of a hit-and-run accident was deemed unfounded. Drivers at Ash and F Sts. and at Ash St. and US-56 were pulled over for failing to turn on their vehicles’ headlights.

Thursday — Police responded to a false alarm at Bomgaars. Found property was received from a resident. A noise complaint in the 500 block of W. Grand Ave. was resolved when music was turned down. Police helped a driver recover lost car keys at a car wash.

Friday — A hit-and-run accident was investigated.

Saturday — A motorist at Ash St. and Grand Ave. was warned about driving with an obstructed windshield. Police helped another driver in the 400 block of N. Ash St. and helped with a vehicle that slid off snow-covered roads at US-56 and Industrial Rd.

Sunday — A disconnected 911 call was blamed on a misdial. Police helped investigate a reportedly out-of-control child.

MARION

Nov. 13 —A child locked in a running vehicle was freed by a locksmith. Clifford L. Richmond, 27, was arrested on suspicion of domestic battery after a disturbance in the 300 block of N. Roosevelt St. A resident reported that a garage door in the 600 block of Lawrence St. had been damaged. Police helped a city crew deal with a property issue in the 400 block of S Roosevelt St.

Nov. 14 — A resident reported that raccoons had been eating yard decorations.

Nov. 15 — Drivers were warned for speeding in the 1100 block of E. Main St. and for having defective equipment near Main and Walnut Sts. and at US-56 and Cedar St.

Nov. 16 — A reported fraud victim at Hilltop Manor apartments was not located. A driver at Main and 3rd Sts. was warned for speeding.

Nov. 17 — A resident of the 600 block of S. Roosevelt St. complained about parking. Drivers were warned for speeding in the 400 block of E. Main St. and at Main and Walnut Sts.

Nov. 19 — A door was left open at the Marion fire station. A resident of the 400 block of S. Roosevelt St. complained about a driver. A motorist was warned for speeding at Main and 1st Sts.

Nov. 20 —After the student’s mother was contacted, a student who walked away was returned to Marion County Special Education Cooperative’s OASIS school. A juvenile who ran away from home in the 400 block of Locust St. returned shortly after police were notified. A possible domestic disturbance in the 300 block of Garfield St. was determined to be a civil matter; a sheriff’s deputies drove a male involved in the dispute to Newton, where family members picked him up. Drivers were warned about defective equipment at Main and 3rd Sts. and at US-56 and Cedar St. Police investigated a complaint in the 600 block of S. Roosevelt St.

Nov. 21 — No report was made after a minor fender-bender at Marion Middle School. Drivers were warned for speeding at US-56 and Cedar St. and US-56 and Ridge Rd.

Nov. 22 — Drivers at Main and Locust Sts. and at Main and 2nd Sts. were warned about defective equipment.

Thursday — Two dogs running free in the 300 block of S. Cedar St. were taken to a veterinary clinic. A resident of the 100 block of N. Roosevelt St. made a complaint about parking.

Friday — What was reported to be a suspicious vehicle at Central Park turned out to be someone using the park’s free WiFi. Police couldn’t find a possibly intoxicated driver involved in a hit-and-run accident in Hillsboro. Drivers at US-56 and Timber Rd. and at Main and Lincoln Sts. were warned for speeding. Drivers at US-56 and Ridge Rd. and at Main and Elm Sts. were warned about defective equipment.

Saturday — Police gave a driver a ride to Country Inn motel after a traffic accident in snow at US-56 and Remington Rd. Police also helped move a vehicle stuck in the middle of Elm St. No problems were found in checking a door left open at Carlsons’ Grocery.

Sunday — Police helped a driver stuck in the 1000 block of Tanglewood St. and attempted in vain to locate a vehicle reportedly stuck near the city shop. What was reported as a suspicious person near US-56 and Timber Rd. was a person walking after becoming upset with family members.
