ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

July 10 — A broken vehicle window was reported in the 300 block of N. Birch St. along with window damage to two houses and several vehicles in the 200 block of S. Date St.

July 11 — A possible identity theft was reported.

July 12 — Police talked to juveniles riding bicycles through the city’s splash pad

Thursday — A psychiatric patient who had left Hillsboro Community Hospital was located nearby and returned. Police met with street department employees about obtaining signs prohibiting wheeled toys at the splash pad. Police helped a camper with a flat tire at US-56 and Nighthawk Rd.

Friday — A possible mail scam was reported. Streets were checked after a storm, and tree debris was removed. A disconnected 911 call from the 300 block of N. Birch St. was determined to have been the result of accidental dialing. After dispatchers reported that Evergy had been alerted to a power line down in the 300 block of W. Grand Ave., an officer pointed out that Evergy did not maintain lines within the city. He reported the felled line to the city’s electric department.

Saturday — A driver at 170th and Indigo Rds. was cited for driving with a suspended license, having no liability insurance, and transporting an open container of alcohol. Both the driver and a passenger were cited for allegedly possessing marijuana. A complaint about a reckless driver heading out of Marion on 190th Rd. was determined to be unfounded.

Sunday — Police and sheriff’s deputies conducted a traffic stop at Ash St. and Grand Ave.

MARION

Citing privacy concerns even though names and addresses rarely if ever appear in such reports, Marion police chief Gideon Cody continues to decline to release a weekly report of his and his officers’ activities.
