ACTIVITY REPORTS
Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.
HILLSBORO
Jan. 30 — A driver at 3rd and Main Sts. was cited for speeding. Officers provided Taser training for Marion police and helped a Tabor College student renew an out-of-state registration.
Jan. 31 — A dog was reported to be running free in the 300 block of N. Washington St. A driver at Ash and Willow Glen Sts. was warned for speeding. A resident received help setting up a security camera.
Feb. 1 — A dog was returned to its owner, who was ticketed for allowing the animal to run free. A resident was contacted after police received a noise complaint in the 200 block of S. Main St. No problems were discovered in checking on a reportedly suspicious person at Casey’s General Store.
Thursday — A vehicle was parked on a sidewalk near Madison and B Sts. Police helped install a child safety seat.
Friday — A driver at Jefferson and 2nd St. was ticketed for having no license. A driver at Adams at A Sts. was warned for speeding. A report of a damaged sewer line was deemed a civil issue. Police met with a resident concerned about parking on private property in the 200 block of S. Adams St. Welfare of a resident of the 300 Block of N. Birch St. was checked.
Saturday — A driver was warned for not using headlights in the 300 block of N. Ash St. No problems were found after checking a report of suspicious activity in Memorial Park.
Sunday — A golf ball accidentally damaged a vehicle. An alarm at Ampride accidentally was set off by an employee. A driver in the 400 block of N. Ash St. was warned for having an expired license.
MARION
Jan. 30 and 31 — Routine activities.
Feb. 1 — Drivers were warned for having defective headlights or taillights at Walnut and Santa Fe Sts., Main and 3rd Sts., and Main and 5th Sts.
Thursday — A non-injury accident in a parking lot at the Marion school offices was investigated.
Friday — Routine activities.
Saturday — A neighbor was ticketed after the neighbor’s dog reportedly bit a 17-year-old girl in the 400 block of S Lincoln St.
Sunday — Dogs reportedly were running free in the 100 block of S. Cedar St., the 300 block of S. Lincoln St., and near the VFW Post on W. Santa Fe St. The dog on Cedar St. was captured by its owner. Police could not locate the two other dogs. A driver reportedly driving recklessly on S. Roosevelt St. could not be found. Property found in the 100 block of S. Roosevelt St. was turned over to police. A report of shots being fired near Grant and Arbor Sts. turned out to be deputies training at a range south of town.
