ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

Oct. 10 — Drivers in the 1000 block of E. D St. and at US-56 and Adams St. were warned for speeding. A traffic complaint in the 200 block of S. Adams St. was investigated. Police helped with a child custody issue in the 900 block of E. D St. and met with a resident about appliances at a residence in the 600 block of S. Lincoln St.

Oct. 11 — A false alarm at Bomgaars was investigated. A vehicle was parked on the wrong side of the street in the 100 block of S. Adams St. College students were warned about riding in the back of a pickup. Police gave a resident a ride home in the 400 block of S. Floral St.

Oct. 12 — A injury accident involving a person in a motorized wheelchair was investigated. Assistance with family issues was provided in the 200 block of N. Main St.

Thursday — Drivers were warned for speeding in the 900 block of E. D St. and for making an illegal U-turn at Main St. and Grand Ave. Police met with a resident about a dog running free in the 300 block of N. Main St. and checked on the welfare of a resident of the 400 block of N. Ash St. A motorist asked for directions at US-56 and Jade Rd.

Friday — A fender-bender at Hillsboro High School was investigated. A car was found to be parked across a sidewalk in the 400 block of S. Adams St. A speeder reported in the 300 block of N. Lincoln St. was not located. Police met with a resident regarding training for active shooter situations.

Saturday — A dog running free in the 200 block of N. Lincoln St. was returned to its owner, who was cited for allowing the dog to run free. A driver was ticketed for speeding in the 100 block of S. Ash St. A fender-bender in the city hall parking lot was investigated. Youths were warned not to skateboard in the middle of D St.

Sunday — A dog running free in the 300 block of S. Cedar St. was picked up by its owner. A person reportedly banging on a house in the 100 block of S. Elm St. was not located.

MARION

Police made a total of 11 traffic stops during the week.

Oct. 10 — A dog bite was reported in the 300 block of S. Roosevelt St.

Oct. 11 — Police returned a phone call regarding standing by during a civil matter.

Oct. 12 — A burglar alarm at Marion Senior Center was determined to have been set off errantly.

Thursday — A dog running free near Coble and Kellison Sts. was returned to its owner. Another dog running free was taken to a veterinary clinic. An employee was discovered working inside a business with an open door in the 1200 block of Commercial Dr. Police returned a phone call regarding an order of protection from abuse.

Friday — Police stood by during a civil matter in the 300 block of S. Roosevelt St.

Saturday — Routine activities only.

Sunday — Theft of a propane tank at the VFW campground was investigated. Two dogs found running free in the 300 block of Maple St. were returned to their owner. No problems were discovered upon investigating a disconnected 911 call from the 400 block of N. Roosevelt.
