ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

June 27 — Police helped with the return of property to a resident.

June 28 — A fireworks complaint in the 400 block of S. Birch St. was investigated. A report of suspicious activity in the 500 block of S. Ash St. was determined to be unfounded.

June 29 — Theft of a string trimmer and a leaf blower from an unlocked backyard garden shed in the 100 block of Floral St. were reported. Police were unable to locate a reckless driver reported at US-56 and Goldenrod Rd. and a dog reportedly running free in the 500 block of S. Ash St.

Thursday — A driver was arrested for allegedly driving with a suspended license and expired registration, displaying a license plate not assigned, and having no liability insurance. Two dogs running free in the 200 block of E. Third St. were returned to their owner.

Friday — A dog running free in the 100 block of N. Ash St. was returned to its owner. Police helped a motorist in the 200 block of N. Main St.

Saturday — A resident was warned for driving a golf cart on a city street.

Sunday — Kids were warned about skateboarding in the street at Adams and D Sts. A driver was warned for running a stop sign at Ash and Willow Sts. Police helped a motorist at Sonic Drive-In change a flat tire. A complaint about fireworks at D and Floral St. was determined to be unfounded.

Monday — An alarm at Hillsboro Hometown Pharmacy was determined to be a false.

MARION

June 27 — A non-injury accident in a parking lot at Casey’s General Store was investigated. A driver at Main and Thorp Sts. was warned for having expired registration. A parking complaint in the 500 block of Eisenhower St. was determined to be unfounded. Police stood by during a civil matter in the 600 block of Walnut St. Accidental dialing of 911 from the 400 block of N. Lincoln St. was investigated.

June 28 — A vehicle struck a gas meter. A resident reported a possible scam, but no offense report was released. A driver was warned for failing to yield.

June 29 — Possible harassment was reported in the 500 block of S. Freeborn St., but no offense report was released. A disturbance near the high school was determined to pose no threat. Three drivers were warned for speeding or equipment violations.

Thursday — A resident was warned for blowing grass clipping into a street in the 900 block of E. Main St. Two warnings were issued for shooting fireworks outside of authorized hours. A vehicle at US-56 and Eisenhower St. was checked and determined to pose no problems. Police met with people involved in a civil matter in the 1500 block of E. Main St. Three drivers were warned for speeding.

Friday — A customer drove off without paying for gasoline at Ampride. Police gave someone a ride to seek medical attention then a ride back home. At the request of tenants of an apartment in the 1500 block of E. Main St., a person was warned about trespassing. In a difference case, a person was warned to stay away from a resident who complained. A driving complaint was determined to be unfounded. An accidental 911 call from the 500 block of N. Cedar St. was investigated.

Saturday — A report of loud music in Jex Addition was determined to be unfounded. The owner of a dog reported to be running free in the 200 block of S. Lincoln St. was present when police arrived. No one was home when police attempted to check on the welfare of a resident of the 300 block of S. Cedar St. and nothing was heard. A parking citation was issued in the 100 block of N. 3rd St.

Sunday — Dogs reported to be without water near Cedar and Sherman Sts. were found to have access to the interior of the home through a dog door. A warning was issued for shooting fireworks outside of authorized hours. A lost debit card was turned in to police. Accidental dialing of 911 from the 600 block of W. Main St. was investigated. A driver was warned for having a malfunctioning headlight.

Monday — Police issued 24 warnings for illegally shooting fireworks in city streets, but no tickets were issued.
