ACTIVITY REPORTS
Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.
HILLSBORO
Jan. 17 — Drivers were warned for an equipment violation at 1st and Ash St. and for speeding at Jade Rd. and US-56.
Jan. 18 — The owner of goats running free at 180th and Indigo Rds. was notified. A trespassing suspect was located in the 400 block of S. Birch St. Police investigated reports of someone looking into vehicles in the 400 block of N. Ash St.; a theft from one of those vehicles was reported the next day. Drivers were warned for speeding at Jade Rd. and US-56 and for equipment violations at Ash and A Sts. and at Ash St. and US-56. Police helped a resident with a civil complaint.
Jan. 19 — A stuffed sheep toy was reported stolen within the past two days from an unlocked vehicle in the 400 block of N. Ash St., where police had investigated a report of a suspicious person the day before. A driver was warned for an equipment violation at Ash at F Sts.
Thursday — A driver was warned for speeding in the 900 block of E. D St.
Friday — Police helped a driver who was locked out of a vehicle.
Saturday — A complaint of reckless driving at Adams and A Sts. was determined to be unfounded. Drivers were warned for speeding at US-56 and Ash St. and for an equipment violation on US-56 between Ash and Adams Sts.
Sunday — A driver with a medical condition was taken to Hillsboro Community Hospital after she ran into carport supports on private property in the 200 block of S. Ash St. A drone pilot was warned for flying a drone too close to children in the 300 block of Kennedy St. A burglary alarm at Hillsboro Hometown Pharmacy proved to be a false alarm.
MARION
Jan. 18 — A dog was picked up in the 100 block of S. 4th St. and taken to Animal Health Center.
Jan. 19 — Although a suspect left before police arrived, information about a disturbance in the 900 block of Melvin St. will be sent to the county attorney for possible charges. A driver was warned for having no trailer lights.
Thursday — Officers directed traffic at a railroad crossing on Santa Fe St. after a crossing arm malfunctioned. Dogs picked up near Lawrence and Locust Sts. and in the 300 block of N. Lincoln St. were taken to Animal Health Center.
Friday — Three drivers were warned for speeding. Police met with a resident regarding removal of nuisance vehicles.
Saturday — A lost dog was found a short time later.
Sunday — A panic alarm at Carlsons’ Grocery provided to be a false alarm. Police warned the owner of a dog running free in the 400 block of N. Roosevelt St. Two drivers were warned for speeding and an equipment violation.
