ACTIVITY REPORTS
Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates for events occurring overnight may reflect not the actual day but rather the start or the end of police shifts.
HILLSBORO
Nov. 8 — Police returned property to a resident and investigated a driving complaint at Ash and D Sts.
Nov. 9 — A woman reported that her former boyfriend slapped her in the face after he showed up at her residence and she asked him to leave. An Internet scam was reported and continues to be under investigation. Police attempted to find salespeople who were selling medical insurance door to door. A resident reported having misplaced a cell phone. Traffic control was provided while a building was moved.
Nov. 10 — A wallet initially reported as stolen proved to have been misplaced. A speeder approaching Hillsboro on US-56 apparently stopped or turned off before arriving.
Thursday — Trespassing was reported in 400 block of S. Main St. and continues to be under investigation. Debris was removed from a roadway. Dogs running free in the 200 block of Kennedy St. were returned to their owner.
Friday — Police escorted the high school football team out of town for a playoff game. A vehicle being stopped for driving left of center resulted in the arrest of driver Leon Srisamutr, 24, on suspicion of driving under the influence, transporting an open container of alcohol, and having expired registration. Charges of underage consumption of alcohol by a passenger are pending.
Saturday — A motorist was warned for an equipment violation.
Sunday — A business owner reported that one or more unknown vehicles had been spinning in rock on the business’ parking lot.
MARION
Nov. 8 — A possible scam was reported. Warnings for speeding and equipment violations were issued. A disconnected 911 call from the 700 block of S. Coble St. was investigated. A message was delivered in the 1000 block of E. Main St.
Nov. 9 — A noise complaint in the 100 block of W. Santa Fe St. and a reportedly suspicious vehicle in the 1000 block of Industrial St. were checked. A driver was warned for speeding.
Nov. 10 — Routine patrols and activities.
Thursday — A driver was ticketed for going 79 mph in a 65-mph zone. A second driver was warned for failing to stop for pedestrians. A parking complaint in the 100 block of N. 5th St., another report of a suspicious vehicle in the 1000 block of Industrial St., and a false burglar alarm at a business in the 100 block of W. Main St. were investigated.
Friday — A report of a possibly impaired driver on US-56 was determined to be unfounded. A driver was warned for speeding.
Saturday — Police were unable to locate a vehicle reportedly being driven on US-56 by an impaired driver. Two drivers were warned about speeding. Police checked on a suspicious vehicle reported in the 1200 block of Commercial St., a disconnected 911 call from the 1100 block of Highland St., and the welfare of a resident of the 500 block of S. Roosevelt St.
Sunday — Police again were unable to locate a vehicle reportedly being driven on US-56 by an impaired driver. Four drivers were warned about equipment violations.
