ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded.

Hillsboro

Oct. 18 – Police investigated an alarm at Casey’s General Store and found the building secure.

Oct. 19 – Police investigated a trash dumping complaint in the 300 block of N. Lincoln St. Police stood by at Hillsboro Community Hospital for an irritated, intoxicated patient.

Oct. 20 – Police picked up a dog at large in the 100 block of S. Main St. and took it back to its owner. Police met with a resident about identity theft.

Thursday – Police investigated an open door at the Adobe House museum, which turned out to be an employee working. Police attempted to locate a vehicle in operation without registration. Police stood by at Tabor College when a student was dismissed from the college. Police investigated a report of a fight in progress in the 200 block of N. Washington St., but the call was unfounded. Police met with a resident about possible violation of a protection from stalking order, and checked on the well being of a resident in the 300 block of N. Madison St.

Friday – Police investigated a noise complaint at Country Haven Inn, but the call was unfounded.

Saturday – Police investigated a dog complaint in the 400 block of S. Cedar St. and warned a driver at Wilson and C. Sts. for an equipment violation.

Sunday – Police did a civil standby in the 100 block of W. B St. and investigated a prank call to Subway where an unknown caller told an employee there was an arrest warrant for him.

Marion

Oct. 18 – Police met with a person reported as suspicious, but everything was OK. Police issued a citation for failure to yield.

Oct. 19 – Police met with people who lost gravel in the roadway and checked on a 911 disconnect in the 1500 block of E. Lawrence St.

Oct. 20 – Officers met with transfer station workers about people not paying after dumping. Police met with people who had an accident on private property and took no report. Police responded to a report of someone walking next to train tracks and issued a trespass warning. Police stopped a driver and issued a citation for failure to yield to a pedestrian. Warnings were issued for speeding and equipment violations.

Thursday – Officers checked on a broken-down motorist near Eisenhower and US-56 and jump-started a vehicle at Ace Hardware. Police removed a dead animal from the roadway. Citations were issued for brake light out and expired driver’s license.

Friday – Four warnings were issued for speed.

Saturday – Officers met with the owner of a vehicle parked in the lane of traffic. A warning was issued for a brake light out. Citations were issued for improper passing, illegal parking, and speeding.

Sunday – Officers responded to the 500 block of N. Cedar St. for a report of a domestic disturbance and arrested Frank Kanive, 60, Marion, on suspicion of domestic battery. Officers met with a resident in reference to suspicious activity and did a civil standby in the 500 block of N. Cedar St.
